Have you ever had a need to join multiple PDF files together into one document, but you didn’t want to plunk down the money for Adobe Acrobat? Perhaps you have a book manuscript or a technical reference manual consisting of separate PDF files that need to be merged into one contiguous file. The good news is you can do this easily and quickly with a free, downloadable utility on the Google Code site called PDFBinder. You can access it here: https://code (dot) google (dot) com/p/pdfbinder/downloads/list.
Most people don’t know about PDFBinder, because they just assume they have to pay stiff retail prices for Adobe Acrobat or some other software package that will merge PDF files into a larger, composite PDF document. Next, I will explain how this super little utility can make your life easier with just a few clicks of the mouse!
This useful application is a best choice for ease of use. After clicking on the PDFBinder program icon, a simple looking program screen will appear. You can compile a list of PDFs to be bound together in 2 different ways. One is to click and drag PDF files to the body of the screen from other locations in the PC. The other way is to click the “Add File” button in the upper left hand corner of the program screen. A file selection dialog box will appear so you can select PDFs from the computer’s folder structure that will appear in the body of the program screen. To bind your selected files together, just click the “Bind” button in the upper middle of the program screen. Note that the “Bind” button is disabled until at least 2 PDF files have been picked for binding. Next, a “Save As” file dialog box will appear waiting for you to key in the new file name you wish to save the larger PDF file to. After clicking the “Save” button, the just created PDF file will display behind the PDFBinder program screen.
The PDFBinder utility program is simple to use, free and it works fast. I highly recommend this handy application for anyone who needs to combine multiple PDF files into one larger PDF document. This handy utility has a variety of uses in home, school, work and more. I have used it to merge PDF files together for my own purposes and it works like a champ!
