This discussion was part of “COVID-19 and the Future of Higher Education,” a virtual summit hosted by AEI’s Academic Programs department on May 27, 2020. In this breakout session, experts discussed some of the major changes to higher education that may result from the coronavirus pandemic. Is the four-year residential model under threat? Will the role of faculty members and administrators change? Are many colleges and universities likely to close? Panelists Naomi Schaefer Riley (AEI), Andrew P. Kelly (The University of North Carolina System), and Robert Kelchen (Seton Hall University) answered these and other questions of concern to anyone interested in American higher education.
