The latest in the fight for education reform in Florida is pitting traditional public schools against publicly funded – but privately owned – charter schools. The new bill signed into law last week by Governor Rick Scott includes a controversial provision mandating funding for charter schools- more than $400 million earmarked for public schools, will now be shared with charter schools as well.
